Some people say wireless Internet is slower than having the Internet wired to your computer. For me it seems to be the same speed. I can easily sit down where I feel the most comfortable with my laptop and get my work done for my freelance writing business without the hassle of having to be stuck behind a desk all day. Wireless Internet has helped my freelance writing business grow because it has helped me be more productive since I am free to work wherever I please.

Before the wireless world came about, we had to cope with sitting down at our specific computer station to do our internet searching. The social networks were kind of beginning, but there was nothing available like we have today. If you did not have an internet connection to your home, you would have to go to the nearest library or cybercaf to use their internet system. It was not nearly as convenient as it is today. You could then only access the web when the places were open, and you did not have the freedom to find anything instantly all day and night long. Those were some tough times, but people got through them.

The next 10 years in the wireless industry will have improved speeds, and signal strength will improve around the globe. The technology is already on the way.

Since the beginning of the internet era everyone is always concerned with going faster. The reason for this is the wealth of knowledge that is available online is almost infinite, and if you could find a way to get this faster and easier you will have the upper hand. Advances in bandwidth expansion and more streamlined content have made the current iteration of online content more accessible. You can literally pick up your cell phone which is connected to a 3G network and order anything online, check your e-mails, and browse for local entertainment such as movies. But have the advances in this technology actually helped? Wasn’t it possible to do this before by just calling someone? The answer to both questions is yes. Yes, the technology is helpful in that you can do more things simultaneously and not have to worry too much about lag time. Yes, in the past you could have accomplished these various tasks by callingbut it would have taken a lot longer. The key to this any industry is the speed and efficiency we can finish things. Wireless internet still has a long way to go before we won’t have to worry about things such as drops in data packets, or dead zones. The technology behind wireless internet is advancing exponentially, and so is the internet itself.

Ten years ago, cell phones were still in their infancy and relatively simply devices. Now, cell phones can send text messages, play videos or run a myriad of programs. The growth in mobile computing means that people are no longer cut off from the world at large when they step out of their house or office. This means greater productivity for businesses and greater interconnectivity for people and their social circles.

Wireless networks for laptops, too, have advanced. Instead of huge growth in technology, though there has been technological advancement, they have become vastly more common. Almost every business nowadays has a wireless network for its customers to use with their laptops or other mobile computing devices. Even fast food places and laundromats often offer wireless hot-spots now.

This growth in wireless has helped spur the development of many important internet businesses. Social networking probably would not be nearly as popular if people could not update their profiles on the go. With such advancement in a short time, it is mind-boggling to think of where wireless technology will be in another ten years.
